The ability to perform photosynthesis anywhere on earth (= photosynthetic ubiquity) is thought to be made possible by an adaptive mechanism of photosynthetic supramolecules that respond to the ever-changing and harsh environment. In this field, researchers specializing in structural biology, plant physiology, biochemistry, and information science will work together to elucidate the principles of environmental adaptation of photosynthetic macromolecules.
