The Maruyama and Sonoike groups published a paper
A joint research group led by Professor Sachihiro Matsunaga has successfully transplanted algal chloroplasts into animal culture cells and detected photosynthetic reactions in the animal cells. The use of clean energy from light is expected to lower the cost of cell culture and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
